"Beth", as she was known to her family and friends, was born to Ira and Marjorie Dawson on July 23, 1932 in Goodland, Kansas. She attended and graduated from Sherman County Community High School in 1950 and attended Cosmetology school in Topeka, Kansas in 1951. She married Ernest Robert (Bob) Fixsen on July 26, 1952 at Topeka, Kansas.

Beth's greatest accomplishment in life was in loving and giving to others. She also helped to establish the Preschool in the First Baptist Church in Dalhart, Texas and worked with Migrant children in the public school in Plainview, Texas. Beth had participated in the Hospice organization as a primary care attendant in Dalhart, Texas and was Secretary / Treasurer of the Mended Hearts Association in Amarillo, Texas. She is a former member of the PILOT Club in Dalhart, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Ladelle and Marjorie Elizabeth (Jones) Dawson.

Survivors include her husband, Robert, of Canyon, TX; four sons, Mickey and Jeanine Fixsen, of Iowa City, Iowa, Timothy and Vickie Fixsen, of Amarillo, TX, Scott and Brenda Fixsen, of Amarillo, TX, and Jay and Heather Fixsen, of Dalhart, TX; one daughter, Diantha and Michael Noyes, of Boys Ranch, TX; four brothers, Sylvan Dawson, of Marion, Iowa, Gerald Dawson, of Lutes, FL, David Dawson, of Boulder, CO, and Mark Dawson, of Sioux Falls, SD; one sister, Ila Little, of Placitas, NM; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth JoAnn Fixsen, 69, of Canyon,TX died Friday, February 22, 2002. Services were held at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 25, 2002 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon, TX, with Rev. Clark Williams, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. The family suggests memorials be sent in lieu of flowers to Mended Hearts, Inc.
